ABOUT MEDUSA & WHO IS MEDUSA. Articles on Greek Mythology with pictures and information about the Greek God & Greek Goddess myths or beliefs from the past. Greek Gods and Goddesses article on Medusa below by Hilary Leigh aka me grin.
Medusa is one of the most famous goddesses in Greek Mythology. Medusa was one of three sisters. All 3 sisters were daughters of the Geek God Phorcus and Greek Goddess Ceto. Phorcus and Ceto were said to be brother and sister that married and hand children * the children that Ceto gave birth to were said to be evil creatures or monsters in ways as Greek Mythology portrays them.* Their hair was said to be clusters of snakes and their faces were so monster like or hideous that when anyone looked into their eyes they would turn into stone like a statue. That is one version of the story. (See not only George Bush fans are believed to be inbreeders but also, back in the time of Greek Mythology the mythological creatures or mythological god and goddess were said to be inbreeding grin.) You know I could not help that one grin. *Was the source of this article on something for that version is not so popular or known grin.*
About Medusa and Athena turning Medusa into a monster. The other story about Greek Goddess turned into a monster. Some however do say that Medusa was the only sister that was mortal.
Stories about Greek Mythology and Stories about Medusa also tell that Medusa was once a beautiful woman that made the Greek goddess Athena mad. Athena in return changed Medusas hair into snakes and made her face ugly to where people would turn into stone by just looking at her. The story about Medusa most common and told is that version. Part of the story about Medusa says that when Medusa was pregnant with Poseidon's child Perseus (or if you looked up Perseus) killed her by cutting off her head and gave it to Athena as a gift or offering.
Just to show you how very different the two stories about Greek Mythology are you have a few to dwell on or read there. The last story is most popular or most believed to be the proper myth.
